Coventry - Room Leader (Level 3 - 40 Hrs PW)
We have an exciting opportunity for a preschool room leader to join our amazing team at Eagle Street!
Location: Rosie and Jims Nursery & Pre-School, Eagle Street East, Coventry, CV14GY
Reports to: Deputy Managers and Setting Manager
Salary: Salary in line with company policy and standards
Hours: All year round - 40 hours per week - Company wide closure between Christmas and New Years!
Job Purpose
To lead and manage a pre-school room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children can learn, develop, and thrive. The Room Leader is responsible for delivering high-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework and supporting staff within the room.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
Lead, motivate, and support room staff to deliver outstanding childcare
Act as a role model for best practice in early years education
Supervise, mentor, and carry out appraisals for team members
Organise staff rotas and daily room operations
Support staff training and professional development
2. Childcare & Development
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS
Monitor, assess, and record children’s progress
Ensure all children’s individual needs are met
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
3. Safeguarding & Welfare
Ensure safeguarding policies are followed at all times
Act as a designated safeguarding lead (if required)
Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment
Follow health and safety procedures
4. Parent & Carer Partnerships
Build strong relationships with parents/carers
Provide regular updates on children’s progress
Handle concerns or queries professionally
5. Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate records (observations, assessments, registers)
Ensure compliance with Ofsted and EYFS requirements
Manage resources and equipment within the room
Contribute to inspections and audits
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years / Childcare
Experience working in an early years setting
Experience leading or supervising a team
Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and leadership abilities
Ability to inspire and motivate a team
Good understanding of safeguarding procedures

Positive and proactive attitude
Desirable Criteria
Paediatric First Aid certification
Safeguarding training (DSL experience advantageous)
Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections
